The Elevation StoryLewis and Kim mcNeely were serving on staff at Living Word Church in Cleveland, TN when God put it in their heart to begin a new kind of church in Atlanta, GA.They'd traveled to Atlanta often for rest and recreation. Lewis and Kim had even dated in Atlanta before they got married. Lewis lived in South Carolina and Kim in Tennessee and so Atlanta was centrally located to them both. In fact once while dating in Atlanta, Lewis gave Kim a birthday, Valentine's and Christmas card all in one day. When she asked why, he responded that, because they were not a couple during those special days that year he wanted to make up for lost time. (Not long afterward he proposed and, of course, she accepted.)After seeking the Lord further in 2009, they decided Atlanta was their spiritual destiny. They discussed the matter in detail throughout the year with their senior pastor. It was decided in January of 2010 that Lewis and Kim would be released to Atlanta to plant a church. During this time Josh and April Howell, good friends of the McNeely's and fellow church members, felt a strong desire to accompany Lewis and Kim to help plant what would become Elevation Church Atlanta. Josh and April then readied their home and put it on the market to sell so they could relocate.In May of 2010, the McNeely family uprooted from Cleveland, their home for 15 years, and relocated to Acworth,GA, a town about 15 minutes northwest of Atlanta. During the summer, Lewis and Kim launched a new church web site, prepared paperwork and readied other things to launch Elevation Church. They began building new relationships around the area to form a special launch team. They also began searching for a location to hold church, and were fortunate to get connected with Simpson Middle School on Trickum Road in Marietta, GA.Elevation Church Atlanta held four monthly preview services in the fall of 2010 as well as holding a number of home meetings. Lewis had it in his heart to really promote the launch of weekly church services with lots of advertising and so began believing God for the funds to do so. Miraculously in January of 2011, someone gave a sizable donation to the church enabling Elevation Church to be able to fully publicize the February 13 launch."Don't misunderstand. We are not all about big numbers," shares Lewis "but these numbers represent people who need to know the truth about Jesus. One of the biggest hurdles to knowing God is believing the lie that He is not ever going to be pleased with us, that He really does not want to be in close relationship with humans." He adds, "Elevation Church wants to proclaim the truth that God did not create us to reject us. He is deeply in love with His creation." Lewis and Kim believe that by pulling down the lie that God is rejecting folks will allow people to grow in close relationship with Him. They believe this close relationship with the Creator will elevate lives into something healthy and fulfilled. Lewis and Kim have fallen in love with Metro-Atlanta. Kim shares,"Though we miss all our friends in Tennessee, I can never imagine living anywhere else but here. We are looking forward to all God has for us and this city in the coming days and years." Lewis adds, "Come and add your story to our story and let's do life together at Elevation Church Atlanta."

Going into all the world is important to us at elevation church. We believe every person should travel at least once in their lifetime on a mission trip outside of their home country.Elevation Church has a heart for all cultures and people groups around the globe. Austin thinks he's a Ninja but we can neither confirm nor deny. His hobbies are facebook, playing Risk and collecting collectable burnt-out halogen bulbs.He attended South Carollina School of Leadership in Lexington in 09-10. He loves Jesus and Crackerbarrel where he scored a 95 on his employee evaluation. (That's pretty good for a "Par 2")

Josh has...umm.. 3 doctorate degrees and an MRI. Just kidding. But he does love leading people into God’s presence and showing them God’s true nature of Love and Kindness. April loves her family, Hosting some uber Scrapbooking parties and being outdoors. She hates that Josh likes it FREEEEZING in the house, and she cook’s a MEAN Enchilada Bake!

Kim gave her heart to Jesus in 1980 after attending a youth group meeting at her Methodist church in Fort Oglethorpe Ga. In 95, she met Lewis and he proposed. She reluctanlty say yes and so they were married. Kim says, "It's not been too bad. He is good at vacuuming."On a serious note in 2009 ,Kim & Lewis both begin to feel a strong call to relocate to Atlanta, a city they have loved since childhood. They relocated here in Spring of 2010 to launch Elevation Church Atlanta,

Does he know the entire Bible by heart? ...He's not saying... but he certainly loves Jesus. And he wants you to know and love Him (Jesus) too.His favorite motto: "God's in a good mood".Favorite book (besides the Bible): "The Naked Gospel" By Andrew Farley.Lewis graduated from Bible School in 1986. He then began traveling the US and Canada for 2 years telling folks about Jesus with The New Life Drama Team.From 1988 -1995 He worked in various positions within his local church ,New Covenant Praise in Aiken, SC.Lewis served on the pastoral staff at Living Word Church in Cleveland TN from 1998 until 2010 when he relocated to Atlanta Ga. Lewis is married to his beautiful wife Kimberly. They have a son, Austin and two girls, Isabella and Paige. Their heart is to teach the world that God the Father is deeply in love with them.

We are a group of believers who desire to love God and love one another. We believe there is no "status" in God's house. He alone is worthy of praise and attention so we approach church this way. We want truth and so we open our hearts to receive God's word and love every time we gather.

How we are different:We are Elder Led.We believe this is the Biblical model of church leadership. Elevation is led by a group of godly men who desire all to know the Father's love through the Work of the Cross. There is a teaching pastor who brings the word each week but one person does not lead Elevation church. "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety" Proverbs 11:14 What’s the music like?Modern, contemporary, music. What do kids do?We are a new church that meets in a home. We hope to outgrow it soon. They are welcome to sit with you or watch a Bible-based DVD in the next room with the other children. We provide a safe place for your children to learn about Jesus.Will I be asked to give money?No pressure and no guilt. God loves a cheerful giver so you decide if and when you want to contribute monetarily.Will I be bored?We sure hope not! A life with Jesus should be fulfilling, rewarding and exciting! We plan our gatherings to engage your heart, mind and soul. What is the overall environment like?As a new work, we currently meet in a home. We provide a casual environment offering coffee and maybe lunch afterward. Just come and be yourself. You’ll fit here.
